How We Met

It all began when Chloe’s father, a Lieutenant Colonel in the Royal Canadian Air Force, got posted to Winnipeg Manitoba. A few provinces over, and after many delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Dallen finally set off to Winnipeg to begin his training to become a pilot for the RCAF.

Chloe’s family found out about Dallen’s recent move to Winnipeg and that both he and Chloe’s Dad had some things in common. Both were graduates of the Royal Military College of Canada who had also served missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

This unique connection prompted Chloe’s parents to invite Dallen over for dinner to get to know him. At the time of this first dinner Chloe was away at school in Ontario. During this initial visit with Chloe’s family, Dallen heard all about Chloe and his interest was peaked. However, he never thought there would be any opportunity to actually meet her since she was away and he was only supposed to be in Manitoba for a short time.

Through a long string of coincidences, which we now recognize as the Lord’s hand, Dallen found himself stuck in Manitoba two months longer than originally planned. It just so happened that a few more coincidences brought Chloe home three weeks earlier than expected. With Dallen still close by, and after everything Chloe had heard about him, Chloe’s mother figured another dinner was in order so they could finally meet.

Sparks flew at first sight and they immediately felt like they had known one another forever. From that point on, not a day went by where you couldn’t find them composing novel length messages to one another.

After two weeks overlap in Manitoba, Chloe went to Calgary for a summer job. Only a few days later Dallen finished his flight training and headed home to Alberta. The timing was perfect.

Throughout the summer Dallen made the three hour drive from Edmonton to Calgary every weekend to spend time with Chloe during her days off. They quickly fell in love and knew that they were each others’ future. The rest is history…
